The photos below were taken July 16, 2014 to March 12, 2015 during the demolition of the old Whitacre family home in Capon Bridge, West Virginia. This is a very typical Hampshire County home that is based on a log structure that has been expanded with later stud additions. We do not know the date of the earliest part of the house or when the other parts were added but the logs look as though they were erected sometime around 1800. If anyone has information on this we would be happy to hear from you.
Please note: It would be nice to see these logs find a home in Hampshire County. If you are interested in reconstructing them for a home or office in Hampshire County please let us know. Contact Jack or Barbara Whitacre at (304)856-1216.

If you have a smaller monitor the photos will be shrunk to fit. Click on the large photo to return to this index page or click on the right or left arrows to view images as a slide show. Please note that some photos, particularly the wide views of the exterior, are large files (250-325Kb) and take time to download.
