William Loy War of 1812 Veteran

A typewritten note in the Hampshire County library includes the following information:
"William Loy (son Daniel and Christiana Millslagle Loy) b. 1 Nov. 1785 d. 20 Dec. 1860 buried on a knoll near his home. He made so many wood shingles under a certain tree that in old age he expressed a desire to be buried there. Some years later a veteran's organization erected a stone with this inscription: William Loy, Pvt. 114 Va. Mil., War of 1812. 1860." The note further states that, " William's first wife, Hannah Horn Loy may be buried in an unmarked grave in Mt. Zion Cemetery and his second wife, Magdalen Gochenour, in a small graveyard south of the house." The author of this information is unknown.
