North River Mills, West Virginia
A village forgotten by time, but not by us.

Hymn Sing at North River Mills

On Sunday afternoon, September 14, 2003, the congregation and friends and visitors were treated to a hymn sing given by the Lamplighters from Berkeley Springs, West Virginia.  The group, which is mostly members of the McCumbee family, has visited North River Mills before, and they were glad to be back.

We had a good turnout for the afternoon sing. Included in the audience were a few folks who had lived in North River Mills or the vicinity at some point. They were warmly welcomed.

harmison2.jpg    Following the sing the Bailes graciously hosted a supper for everyone. It offered an opportunity to meet everyone and catch up on news. Shown here is an old resident from many years ago, Phil Harmison (on left) talking to a current resident, Buck O'Brien.sing-eat.jpg

Mr. Phil Harmison, boyhood resident of North River Mills

We appreciate Mr. Harmison taking the time to talk about his childhood memories of North River Mills. Hopefully, we will be able to get together with him again to delve further into the history of our quaint little village. Thanks to everyone who came to the sing and brightened up our church and the Miller house.
